ISIS News: Next Target is U.K., According to Official
In what could be a warning for preparation against possible terrorist attacks, an intelligence official said the ISIS is aiming to get inside the United Kingdom next, after leaving Paris in despair.
The senior European counterterrorism official told CNN on Thursday that the U.K. attack will come as a follow-up to the attacks in the French capital that left hundreds dead. He also said higher-ranking officials in the terrorist group have ordered their British fighters to return home, and instead of visiting their families, they are reportedly eyeing an attack on their people.
As of the moment, there are not too many details about the attack and it is unknown which specific site or location will be targeted.
Last month, a British Islamic State operative, Aine Lesley Davis, was arrested in Istanbul. He was reportedly planning to travel to Europe to send messages from senior ISIS officials regarding a purported attack.
It is uncertain if the warning is related to Davis' capture, but it should be noted that this certain ISIS operative has been linked to "Jihadi John" and his arrest was laid out on the same day the Paris attacks were launched.
A Turkish official told the outlet earlier that Davis was suspected of being a messenger linked to Jihadi John, his arrest possibly fueling the ISIS to deploy its British army and launch an attack in the United Kingdom.
Previous reports stated that Britain has called for an offensive against the Islamic State forces in Iraq and Syria, joining the French, Russian, Yazidi, and Kurdish fighters who are all under the U.S.-led coalition that aims to extinguish the terrorists.
The latest intelligence warning, while lacking the necessary details to build an organized defense, calls for the United Kingdom to keep their eyes open and be prepared for a possible attack that could either kill or hurt many.
Meanwhile, Salah Abdeslam, the eighth suspect believed to have escaped Paris by the way of some friends in Brussels, remains at large and poses a threat to the Belgian community.
