ISIS news today 2015: Tortures 14-year-old boy who tried to escape terror jihad camp
Bound to his wheelchair that he uses to move around in the tiny apartment he lives in with his family in Sanliurfa, Turkey, Mohammed tells of how the Islamic State recruited him and later tortured him because of his refusal to cooperate in soldiery.
Two weeks ago, the 14-year-old boy had his right hand and left foot chopped off by the ISIS when he refused to be turned into a child soldier.
Another boy from the same area as Mohammed came from, Ahmed, 16, said ISIS lured him into fighting for the extremist group with threats and promises that never really came true.
In an interview with NBC News, the two boys shared the disturbing strategy of the Islamic State to recruit young boys into their army, brainwashing the teens until they decide that they are willing to blow themselves up or be one of the acclaimed ISIS fighters.
While Mohammed was turned into a spotter, one who uses binoculars to help the team locate targets, Ahmed was a helper, serving meals and running errands for the rebels until such time that he earned the honors of acquiring a gun.
Ahmed escaped and was later discovered by the ISIS and was promised that his family and he would be safe if he went back to the rebel camp.
Mohammed was also discovered and arrested by the extremists following his escape and was locked up in a room with 75 other boys and men, where they were all tortured and beaten with bats on their shins, and received electric shocks to their genitals.
"Many people died there. No water, no electricity. They provided water twice a day. We used the toilet once a day," Mohammed said.
After a second escape wherein his friend betrayed him, Mohammed was finally brought in front of an ISIS judge and was sentenced to have his hand and leg cut with a meat cleaver by a member of the ISIS' chopping committee famously known by the nickname "The Bulldozer."
Mohammed says the most painful part of his travail was that people around pitied him, and at one point was given 50 Turkish lira ($15) by someone who thought he was a beggar.
