'It is God Who Keeps and Protects:' Testimonies Emerge From Texas Tornadoes

Residents around North Texas are revealing their faith testimonies today after a series of devastating tornadoes swept through parts of Texas yesterday, flattening homes and destroying communities.

The National Weather Service in Dallas - Fort Worth Texas reported that between six and 13 tornados touched down in north Texas Tuesday.

Although the tornadoes did cause mass destruction to the community, there are no reported fatalities, although rescuers continue to search parts of Dallas Wednesday to recover any potential victims trapped in collapsed homes.

Gwen Dabbs of Dallas has told CNN that her safety through the natural disaster, which blew out the windows of her home, is attributed to the grace of God.

"My body is sore from being in the corner. But I don't have not a cut, not a scratch, and I'm so thankful. Thank you, Lord," she told CNN.

Nicole Lawrence, who experienced hail and an electricity outage at her Dallas home, attributes God's grace to her safety as well.

"It's only by God's grace that I'm here," she told CNN, adding that her home has been reduced to rubble after the natural disaster swept through her town.

Others took to the social media site Twitter to express their relief and thankfulness.

"Thanking God for covering my family and friends in Dallas yesterday. The tornado was this close to my sister's school," tweeted Qui Rice, posting a photo of a tornado about 100 meters away from the camera.

"We are grateful for the Hand of Protection from God. Please pray for our DFW [Dallas Fort Worth] friends & neighbors. Tornado storm damage is significant," tweeted Debbie Allen.

"Where there is a tornado their [sic] is also my God who still keeps, watches, and protects! My prayers go out to Dallas! He still is a keeper!" tweeted another user.

The tornados stemmed from the Dallas - Fort Worth area, with a population of 6.3 million, into Northeastern Texas Tuesday.

Media reports indicate the storm produced hail the size of golf balls, as well as fierce thunder and lightning. According to the American Red Cross, at least 650 homes were significantly damaged from Tuesday's disaster. Dozens of injuries were also reported.

According to Reuters, the tornado caused 400 flights to be canceled at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the eighth busiest airport in the world.

Although the United States' tornado season has not officially begun, weather authorities contend that it has struck early this year.

Although the tornado brought massive destruction, many remain thankful that no human life was lost in Tuesday's disaster.

"We dodged a big bullet ... It really is a miracle," Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said in an interview with CNN.
