Jack Nicholson Retirement Rumors Slammed
Jack Nicholson is not putting an end to his prolific career, despite recent reports that suggested the veteran actor's retirement.
The legendary thespian is a three-time Best Actor Academy Award-winner who has over 75 titles among his credits, including beloved films such as "As Good As It Gets" and the classic horror movie "The Shining."
This week, reports arose that Nicholson has "quietly retired" and has "no plans to appear in films again," according to RadarOnline.com.
However, hours later, another Hollywood insider denied the retirement reports as being "100 percent false," according to NBC News.
Furthermore, the actor is "actively reading scripts and is looking forward to his next project."
Considering his decorated career, reports that Nicholson was retiring this week did not come as a huge shock, but fans were unnerved by the news all the same.
Twitter users were so vexed by the actor's alleged departure from show business that his name became a trending topic on the social media site on Wednesday.
In addition to speculation over his retirement, 76-year-old actor has reportedly been battling memory loss, according to RadarOnline.
"Jack has- without fanfare- retired," an insider initially revealed.
"There is a simple reason behind his decision- its memory loss," the source continued. "Quite frankly, at 76, Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember the lines being asked of him. His memory isn't what is used to be."
Although Nicholson is not retiring, his career has slowed down. The actor has not appeared in a film since 2010's "How Do You Know." Before that, he appeared in 2007's "The Bucket List."
Nevertheless, Nicholson attended this year's Oscar Awards where his encounter with Jennifer Lawrence made waves.
The "Hunger Games" actress was speaking to "Good Morning America" when Nicholson came along the scene and congratulated her on winning the award for Best Actress.
The actor then explained his interrupting the interview by saying Lawrence looked "like a girlfriend of mine," to which Lawrence said, "Do I look like a new girlfriend?"
Nicholson coyly replied, "I thought about it!"
