Jackie Kennedy Tapes Reveal She Suspected LBJ Was Behind JFK Assasination
Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis believed that LBJ was behind JFK’s assassination, according to tapes the former first lady recorded just months after her husband’s murder, the Daily Mail has reported.
Kennedy-Onassis suspected that LBJ and a group of Texas businessmen were behind the 1964 assassination in Dallas, TX. It is widely assumed that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman in the assassination, but Kennedy-Onassis believed he was simply part of a larger conspiracy involving powerful men intent on removing the charismatic JFK from the oval office.
JFK conspiracy theorists have long held LBJ as a suspect in the assassination, which has been fueled by allegations by LBJ’s long-time mistress, Madeline Duncan Brown, that LBJ had a closed-door meeting with Texas businessmen, FBI agents, and mafia bosses the night before the assassination.

Brown claims in interviews that LBJ came out of the meeting furious, and grabbed her by her shoulders. “Those SOB’s (the Kennedys) will never embarrass me again,” he told her.
“That’s not a threat. That’s a promise.”
The revelations of the tapes are sure to add more fuel to the conspiratorial fire, which recently gained new momentum in “American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate & Beyond,” an autobiography by former CIA agent, E. Howard Hunt, published in 2007, shortly before the former spy’s death.
"Having Kennedy liquidated, thus elevating himself to the presidency without having to work for it himself, could have been a very tempting and logical move on Johnson's part,” he wrote.
LBJ’s Texas connections were a big assistance in what Hunt believes was a coup.
“LBJ had the money and the connections to manipulate the scenario in Dallas and is on record as having convinced JFK to make the appearance in the first place.”
Kennedy-Onassis is now also on record as also believing LBJ was involved in the assassination, but she did not want the tapes to be revealed until 50 years after her death in 1994, allegedly out of fear of retaliation against her family, the Daily Mail reported. However, daughter Caroline Kennedy has allowed ABC access to the tapes, which was part of a negotiation for the network to cancel the airing of its TV series about the Kennedy clan.
Aside from accusations of coup plots, the tapes also reveal that Jacqueline Kennedy had several affairs with other men - including actor William Holden and Fiat founder Gianni Agnelli – in response to her husband’s legendary track record of extramarital affairs.
ABC has not yet announced when they will air the tapes.
