Jada Pinkett Smith Changes 'Open Marriage' Statement After Scrutiny

Jada Pinkett Smith is speaking out about open relationships and her marriage to actor Will Smith after she felt some recent comments about their relationship were misinterpreted.

Pinkett Smith, 41, took to her Facebook page in an attempt to address comments that she made in a Huffington Post report concerning her marriage.

"The statement I made in regard to, 'Will can do whatever he wants,' has illuminated the need to discuss the relationship between trust and love and how they co-exist," the mother of two wrote on Facebook.

The actress began her post by letting the world know that there were things more important than speculating about the possibility of an open marriage between her and Smith, 44.

"Let me first say this, there are far more important things to talk about in regards to what is happening in the world than whether I have an open marriage or not," she wrote on Facebook. "I am addressing this issue because a very important subject has been born from discussions about my statement that may be worthy of addressing."

The Hollywood actress' initial statement about her marriage spoke about giving her husband the freedom to do what he desired.

"I think because from how I've answered questions of 'girl you know what would you do if he came home and this and that [happened]?' or 'being married to a big superstar like Will, how do you deal with other women,'" Smith initially told Dr. Marc Lamont Hill of the Huffington Post. "And I've always told Will, 'You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay."

Pinkett Smith said she would like to rephrase that statement in her Facebook post.

"Here is how I will change my statement...Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so," the actress wrote. "This does NOT mean we have an open relationship...this means we have a GROWN one."
