Jada Pinkett Smith Marriage Rumors: 'We Should Have Been Expecting It'
According to Jada Pinkett Smith, despite a happy 15 year marriage with husband Will Smith, her relationship still continues to suffer extreme scrutiny.
Jade Pinkett first met Smith in 1990 on the set of "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." In 1995 the couple began dating and was later married in 1997. Despite their long and successful relationship however, Pinkett says that it has been a rough year in the media following severe scrutiny of the pair's relationship although she is unsure why.
"I have no idea! Every year, one celebrity couple is under the microscope. This year, unluckily, it's us! I almost want to say that we should have been expecting it," Pinkett told Gala.
Rumors abounded that the couple had split and were no longer living under the same roof. Taking the rumors to the next level, some reports have even gone as far as to suggest that Will Smith is gay and having an affair with his best friend Duane Martin.
"Will spends significantly more time with Duane than he does with Jada and the kids," RadarOnline reported earlier this year. "[She] can't stand Will's relationship with Duane. She feels like Will flaunts it in her face, taking him on exotic vacations while she's sitting home alone."
Pinkett has said that the rumors are "ridiculous" and insisted that while both are busy with their careers, their marriage is still very secure.
"These rumors are completely untrue," she says. "I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does...But our lifestyle hasn't changed. Before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects," Pinkett remarked.
Despite rumors however, Pinkett has expressed her faith in the fact that the truth will prevail.
"Will and I know the truth. We're waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over," she said.
