Jake Pavelka Slams 'Teen Mom' for Promoting Teen Pregnancy, Applauds Teens for Not Having Abortions

Former "Bachelor" star Jake Pavelka is sad to see MTV's "Teen Mom" promoting teen pregnancy but applauds the girls on the show for not having abortions and giving their kids a chance at life.

"It's not cool to be pregnant in high school," Pavelka told Radar Online. "It is not cool, and that is what the show does… is make it seem like it's cool to get pregnant in high school, out of wedlock."

Pavelka wants to tell the teens, "You are altering your life. You have so much life to live. You're a baby and you're having a baby. There's so much of the world that you are going to miss out on."

"It's so sad. Some of these girls could be the next President of the United States," Pavelka added. "But they are on MTV. If they are having the kid, it takes away from high school. They haven't gotten to be in a sorority or go to college yet."

And Pavelka knows a thing or two about appearing on a reality series. He first competed on "The Bachelorette" before being dismissed and then returning as "The Bachelor." Pavelka was briefly engaged to Vienna Girardi, but the relationship ended horribly, with both stars going their own way after a televised reunion.

Pavelka then competed on "Dancing With the Stars" before returning to his Bachelor roots on the second season of "Bachelor Pad." He has also guest-starred on several TV series.

"You don't make huge salaries in reality," Pavelka said. "You just don't. If someone gives you $100,000 to be on a show… Let me tell you what, $100,000 is nothing."

One good thing that Pavelka sees from the "Teen Mom" franchise is that the stars choose not to have abortions and openly discuss their reasoning for having their babies.

"I applaud them for having that child and not aborting," he said. "I applaud that they are giving that kid a chance. I know some of the girls on it, but I don't like what that represents. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it."
