Rodriguez revealed in a recent report that Season 3 will show Jane's husband. However, she did not further confirm if Michael is dead or alive. She also stated that Jane will be losing her virginity this season, but did not state who.
Additionally, Rodriguez also confirmed that the third season of "Jane the Virgin" will give the characters more challenges and growth as the story unfolds, especially Jane. She added that there will be more twists in the story and the show will be stronger. In fact, she admitted that it is going to be a rollercoaster ride.
Brett Dier, who plays the role of Michael in the show, also stated that there will only be three options for Michael's future in the next season. These are either Michael's ashes will be in a vase, his body in a coffin, or he will be seen in a hospital bed, fighting for his dear life.
There is no guarantee to what Michael's future will be and whether he is alive or dead. However, Dier is optimistic that he will be back for the third season as Jane's husband and that is enough reason to still be a part of her life.
Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman noted that the third season will surely reveal if Michael was dead or alive, and that the theme of the whole story will be centered on growth. She also stated that Jane will be definitely happy in the end. For Urman, Jane's happiness is a very important part of the story.
