January Jones Pre-Teen Photo Shocks Fans

January Jones shared a barely recognizable photo of herself from her pre-teen years on social media this week, surprising fans everywhere.

The "Mad Men" actress joined Instagram in January, but already has 60 posts to the account. On Feb. 21, Jones made a post unlike any other with a photo featuring an adolescent with short-cropped hair that was long in the back.

"#nofilter #obviously #lovemy9yroldself," Jones wrote in the caption of the photo, which appeared to be her school picture.

In the photo, a young Jones grins into the camera with gapped teeth and wearing a colorful smock. However, the post is a far cry from what the starlet looks like today- the 36-year-old actress is a staple on the glamorous red carpet. She is also well known for portraying the fashionable and beautiful character Betty on AMC's "Mad Men."

Following the childhood photo, Jones went on to post an updated "selfie" to Instagram on Feb. 22.

"25yrs later, my eyes are more open but less sweet," she cryptically added in the caption. "#whyistherenothingontvonasatnight?"

Although the actress frequently posts on Instagram, very little is known about her personal life or her personality. She is the single mom to 2-year-old son Xander Dane Jones. The star has remained tight-lipped about the identity of her son's father, but the mother and son duo are often photographed together near their Los Angeles home.

In the past, Jones was dubbed an ice-queen similar to her "Mad Men" role as Betty; a complicated and sometimes cold character. Jared Gilmore, who formerly portrayed Betty's [Jones] son on "Mad Men," told TV Guide: "Be careful around January. She's not as approachable as the others. She's really serious about what she does."

The actor, 11 years old at the time, noted that "everyone else is so nice."

Another "Mad Men" star spoke up defending Jones though. John Slattery, who portrays Roger Sterling on the drama series, said that Jones is a "sweetheart" while speaking to E! News.
