Jason David Frank Confirms 'Power Rangers' Movie
The original actor for Green Ranger Tommy Oliver, Jason David Frank, confirmed that the "Power Rangers Movie" is already in the works.
In an interview with ComicBook, Frank said, "It is being filmed this year."
"We're definitely not in a holding pattern. The movie is definitely set for this year. Everything is in place. They won't give me specific details because it's all like hush-hush," said Frank.
He added that he even tried getting the confidential details of the film but with no success. He also said he tried emailing the production to ask them about the film but they refused to give out details yet because "they feel there's no movie, at least, without me."
It was last year when the announcement about the movie came. Saban, "Power Rangers" owner, has partnered with Lionsgate to "re-envision" this film.
"X-Men: First Class" screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz will be crafting the scripts. Then, Roberto Orci, "Transformers" producer, will be the executive producer of the film.
However, since Orci is also a writer-producer for "Star Trek," he admitted that he would have scheduling conflicts with the "Star Trek 3" production this year.
Frank said whether the film gets released or not, he had a "great" relationship with Lionsgate and he has "been loyal to Saban." After all these years, he would still like to have a supporting contribution in this film.
"I believe it's going to happen anyway, but when it does, I'll keep my fans involved, but I will tell you it is being filmed this year," he said. "I know that for a fact. It's going to be great when it is."
