Jason Hoppy Wearing Wedding Band Despite Bethenny Frankel Divorce
Bethenny Frankel has reportedly accused her estranged husband Jason Hoppy of trying to garner public sympathy by wearing his wedding band amid their ongoing divorce battle.
In recent weeks Hoppy, 40, has been photographed still wearing his wedding band despite Frankel, 42, filing for divorce in January. The divorce battle recently turned nasty after Hoppy requested primary child custody of the couple's 2-year-old daughter Bryn in his response to the divorce filing.
"Bethenny just can't understand why Jason is still wearing his wedding ring! It makes absolutely no sense to her because they have zero plans for reconciliation," an insider told RadarOnline.com.
"Bethenny thinks he's doing it to garner sympathy and to appear as the wounded party," the source continued.
The "Bethenny Ever After" star has requested life insurance that would make her and Bryn beneficiaries in addition to primary child custody, and ironically, Hoppy has done the same.
The pharmaceutical sales executive is reportedly still living in the $5 million marital home that he and Frankel once shared. He reportedly also wants "exclusive use and occupancy of the marital residence" in the divorce settlement, according to TMZ.com.
While some claim Hoppy is being strategic by wearing his wedding band throughout the nasty divorce proceedings, he is allegedly only doing so to protect Bryn.
"Jason told her he's still wearing the ring so that their 2-year-old daughter, Bryn doesn't get confused," the source said.
"But that reasoning doesn't fly with Bethenny because Bryn's still too young to understand that her parents are getting [divorced]," the insider continued, adding, "or to even comprehend what that means."
Hoppy has also asked that Frankel, who is said to be worth between $25 million and $55 million, pay for any fees- particularly attorney and accountant costs- incurred during the divorce proceedings. The case is ongoing.
