The man's co-workers hatch a plan to help him recover, which works, but not in a way anyone has ever imagined it to.

Director Gomez-Rejon, who directed the critically acclaimed indie film, "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl," has picked up the helm of "Collateral Beauty" as his third film, which is scheduled to start shooting by fall.

The film was written by "Things We Lost in the Fire's" Allan Loeb, whose script for "Collateral Beauty" caused a stir at the Cannes Film Festival, leading a massive bidding to score the project.

PalmStar Media and its partner, Merced Capital will be financing the film, with Bard Darros, Michael Sugar and Loeb as producers.

Segel, who has slowly been departing from his usual comedic fare with dramatic films like "The End of the Tour," a James Ponsoldt biographical drama that earned him rave reviews, is continuing to explore his dramatic range with "Collateral Beauty."

Jackman, who is better known for playing the brooding and muscled "Wolverine" for the "X-Men" film series, has exercised his dramatic chops with "Real Steel" and his Golden Globe award-winning performance in "Les Miserables."

Mara, who received positive reviews for her role as a psychiatric patient in "Side Effects," will soon be seen as Tiger Lily in the Peter Pan reboot, "Pan."
