Jay Cutler Ring: Kristin Cavallari Defends Fiancé

Kristin Cavallari has risen to defend her fiancé Jay Cutler after reports slammed the NFL star for being unromantic.

During a recent interview, Cavallari admitted that Cutler had mailed her diamond engagement ring after the couple had decided that their engagement was back on.

"It was so silly," the bride-to-be told E! News. "I was in the airport, leaving Chicago. We had just spent however many days together and we were texting and somehow it came up, like, 'Oh, shall we get married?' We're like, 'Yeah, ok.' And then he sent my ring in the mail."

"So I actually had my ring sitting at home for a couple of weeks before I put it on," Cavallari added.

The statement generated criticism toward the Bears' quarterback, such as Wetpaint's report with the headline "Kristin Cavallari Has a Wedding Date- and a Pretty Lame Proposal Story."

Firing back at the media, Cavallari took to Twitter on Thursday, slamming the reports.

"Stop bashing Jay," started the 26-year-old. "He proposed in Cabo. Stop believing headlines… u have no clue. They take 1 piece of an interview to get ppl talking."

She added, "And sports 'news' is no better than tabloids. That's where they get their info."

The former reality television star even defended Cutler's flair for romanticism.

"Last time I'm saying this," Cavallari posted to Twitter. "jay proposed in Cabo, got down on 1 knee, & was incredibly sweet. Stop trying to make it something it's not. 2nd time wasn't a proposal. We weren't going to see each other for months and I wanted to wear my ring so it was sent in the mail. Big DEAL"

Cavallari and Cutler called off their first engagement in July 2011. Then in November, "The Hills" star announced that their engagement was back, assuring fans that "this time it's official" via Twitter.

Shortly after the couple announced that they were back together, the pair confirmed in Jan. 2012 that they were expecting their first child. They welcomed their son Camden Jack the following August.

Meanwhile, the former "Hills" star revealed that "the wheels are in motion" when it comes to the wedding.

"We actually have a date," said Cavallari. "But we're not, you know, telling anyone the details."

One thing is certain; Cavallari insisted that the wedding would not take place on her and Cutler's son's birthday, August 8.

Alternately, Cutler has had a hard week in the press- the NFL star was named number four on Forbes' "10 Most Disliked Athletes in America" list on Friday, according to Yahoo News.
