Jenelle Evans Arrested for Possession, Assault of Husband
Jenelle Evans has been arrested yet again, only this time for possession of heroin and simple assault of her husband, Courtland Rogers, as well as failure to pay child support. The 21-year-old now faces criminal charges for her actions but claims that she was "set up" by her husband.
Police in North Carolina responded to a call of domestic violence at Evans' residence and allegedly found 12 bindles of heroin in her possession. She also had Percocet but no prescription for the drug, which counts as possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
"Courtland set Jenelle up," a friend told Radar Online. The drugs reportedly belong to Courtland and "with them living together, anything found in the common areas of the house leaves all residents accountable."
Yet that doesn't explain the assault that happened at the same location. Earlier this year, Evans pressed charges against Rogers for domestic assault; even though she dropped the charges, the state considered them serious enough to continue pursuing. He later pleaded guilty to two counts of assault.
The couple has had a tumultuous relationship ever since getting together last year. They married days after announcing an engagement, and on their wedding day, Rogers had to report to court for other charges. Then Evans announced she was pregnant but later suffered a miscarriage and filed for separation from Rogers.
During their time apart, Rogers alleged that Evans had begun using heroin again and had even used during her pregnancy. The two later reconciled and had been doing fine until these latest charges.
The arrest comes at an ironic time for Evans, whose drug use was featured on "Teen Mom 2" Tuesday night. She and then-boyfriend Kieffer Delp decided to use drugs in order to make themselves feel better about their respective life situations. Yet Evans took to Twitter to defend herself and tell fans she was sober now.
"I'm doing great. Eating healthy. My weight is back to normal. I take multivitamins daily and melatonin at night and I'm SOBER!" Evans tweeted just yesterday.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though she is actually sober and will face serious consequences for her actions.
"She was crying in court. This just happened. She was in bad shape," Evans' attorney Dustin Sullivan told E! News. Evans was released on $20,000 bond Tuesday night.
Rogers was also arrested for "hitting her on the neck and striking her with a closed fist on the head," TMZ reported.
