Jennie Garth Talks Diet, Dating, and 'Excruciating' Divorce
Jennie Garth has opened up about the hurdles she has overcome in the last year, including her divorce from actor Peter Facinelli.
The "90210" star and her husband split after 11 years together in March. While Garth has come a long way recovering from the divorce from Facinelli, the actress noted there are still difficult moments during an interview with Health magazine.
"When I'm in excruciating pain, like with what I've been through with my breakup and that grief and loss that's just immobilizing, it helps to remember that it only lasts for 13 or 15 minutes, max," admitted the 40-year-old.
"And then it's over," Garth added. "Your mind is ready to go to something else. You might come back to it, but it helps to just know that that pain is not going to last forever."
The mother of three shares her children with the "Twilight" star.
Meanwhile, Facinelli has been linked to actress Jaimie Alexander in a move that Garth admitted caused a "sting."
"I think there will come a time when [seeing Facinelli and Alexander] won't sting so bad," said Garth while on "Good Morning America."
"But I'm not quite there yet," she continued. "You know, I am happy that he is happy though."
Despite Garth's divorce, the actress has not given up on love, and is interested in meeting someone new and knows what she is looking for.
"I'm learning to date again," the star told Health magazine. "Looks aren't important to me anymore. I like positive energy."
Furthermore, Garth, who has lost 30 pounds in the past year, said she has never felt better.
"Every day, I just renew my healthy choices," explained the actress. "I feel really good about myself now, and I don't want to do anything to change that."
Garth noted that her healthy choices never include trendy diets or gimmicky weight-loss tips.
"My biggest regret is putting my body through fad diets: Atkins, cleanses, the hCG diet," the actress recounted to the fitness magazine. "I lost like 18 pounds, but it came right back. The worst was fasting with colonics for three or four days. It was the most horrifying experience ever."
As Garth maintains a newfound healthy lifestyle, the actress has been dating. She has been linked to HGTV star Antonio Ballatore, photographer Noah Abrams, and Jones Lang LaSalle managing director Jason Clark.
