Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt 'Very Good Friends' Despite Angelina Jolie Affair Rumors
Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt have been subject to rumors about their 2005 divorce for years, however, a friend recently set the record straight and insists that despite the rumors, the pair has in fact always maintained a bond.
In 2005, Aniston, 44, filed for divorce from Pitt, 49, after five years of marriage and within one month of the filing the Hollywood actor was photographed on vacation with his current fiancee Angelina Jolie. Despite ongoing reports of adultery, which Pitt has always vehemently denied, and alleged feuds, the father of four and Aniston have reportedly always been on good terms.
"I think Brad was ready to soar when he met Angie. This is not to say anything negative about Jennifer. I was part of that and I know that he and Jennifer are very good friends and he cared deeply for her," Jean Black told Esquire. Black is a makeup artist and friend who has allegedly worked with Pitt on the majority of his films since 1990.
"But in Angie he saw a very adventurous person who was grabbing on to life and taking it to its nth degree. It was intriguing because I felt Brad had that in him and wanted to unleash it," Black explained.
In 2004, Pitt met Jolie, 37, on the set of their 2005 blockbuster "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," while he was still married to Aniston. Jolie, who is an Academy Award winning actress, previously admitted to falling in love with Pitt on the set of their film which fueled reports of an affair and even garnered a blunt response from Aniston.
"I felt those details were a little inappropriate to discuss. That stuff about how she couldn't wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool," Aniston previously told Vogue magazine.
While many critics believed Aniston's response was proof of an alleged hostility toward Pitt and Jolie, he previously revealed that the tabloid gossip is pure fiction. Pitt also confirmed that he is still in contact with his ex-wife.
"Listen, man, Jen is a sweetheart. I think she got dragged into that one, and then there's a second round to all of that Angie versus Jen. It's so created," Pitt previously told W magazine.
"We still check in with each other. She was a big part of my life, and me hers. I don't see how there cannot be [that]. That's life, man. That's life," he added.
