Jennifer Hudson Defends Herself Against Beyonce Fans
Jennifer Hudson recently defended herself against those who believed she was speaking out against fellow singer Beyonce.
Hudson, the 32-year-old singer and actress, recently caused some to question comments that she made about things that were overrated in the music industry. One of those things were her music industry peers who sing about sexual relations.
"Singing about the same old things in music is so overrated. Sex, drinkin', the club. Okay, especially sex," Hudson told The Huffington Post. "Like, we [are] grownups, we ain't got over that, like, really? Ain't you too old for that kind of thing? Can you talk about something else? I get annoyed with those things."
After a number of Beyonce fans blasted Hudson's comments on Twitter, the singer defended herself.
"if u took my general comment and YOU singled out someone to apply it it to , then that would mean that's how u feel," Hudson tweeted. "Not me."
Hudson and Beyonce both appeared in the 2006 film adaptation of "Dreamgirls" together. While the former took on a lead role as Effie in the movie before she ever released an album or appeared on the big screen, a number of media outlets suggested that the pair did not get along well.
However, Hudson put those rumors to rest during an appearance on Bravo TV's "Watch What Happens Live" last year.
"There [were] never any rifts at all," Hudson explained of her relationship with Beyonce while on the show. "That is still my girl to this day. I love her. We've always been good."
Beyonce previously defended herself against critics who thought she was jealous of Hudson for having more of a coveted role than the famed singer.
"I knew that the character that I played wasn't the star," Beyonce said in a People report when "Dreamgirls" came out. "She wasn't the underdog. She didn't have the struggle and the pain and the dramatic scenes that Effie had, and I was fine with that."
