Jennifer Lawrence Haircut Shocks Fans (PHOTOS)
Jennifer Lawrence shared a photo of her new, short haircut via Facebook on Wednesday, surprising fans with the new look.
The "Hunger Games" star is best known for the dark braid of her character in the film, Katniss Everdeen, but in real life, Lawrence has always had long blonde hair.
Today, the Oscar-winning actress has neither of the aforementioned hairstyles. According to a source close to her, Lawrence had her hair dyed and cut into a pixie style weeks ago in West Hollywood.
"It's short and drastic," the insider told Us Weekly, adding that stylist at Nine Zero One, Riawna Capri, was responsible for Lawrence's new 'do.
Furthermore, a second course clarified that Lawrence's hairstyle is "kind of a punk pixie cut that has a few longer pieces on one side but is shorter everywhere else," according to Us Weekly.
According to two new pictures on Lawrence's Facebook page, the actress' new hairstyle remains blonde, but features long, side-swept bangs with short, choppy and spiky pieces of hair in the back.
The actress is currently preparing to promote "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" with the rest of the movie's cast in Los Angeles later this week.
Lawrence is just one of several actresses to make drastic changes to their hair in recent weeks.
Most notably, both Pamela Anderson and Kristen Chenoweth cut their long blonde hair into short pixie cuts recently.
Then, over the weekend, Jennifer Aniston cut over six inches from her hair, creating a new chin-length bob. The "Friends" actress attributed the change to boredom.
"It was kind of spur-of-the-moment," the star explained to Vogue Monday. "I was flipping through television channels and I paused it to take a picture and I sent it to Chris [McMillan, her hair stylist] and he said, 'That's [stylist] Lawren Howell from Vogue!' And then he said, 'I just cut that!' So that's it."
Without a moment of hesitation, Aniston had her stylist cut her hair into the same style.
"I did it! I feel great, I feel lighter," said the actress, according to Vogue. "It's simple, it's really simple, that's for sure. But I'm always one of those girls who does a big old chop just to get it really healthy, to repair all the [damage from] hair coloring and stuff like that. And I just got bored, honestly. It's fun to change it up once in a while."
