Jennifer Love Hewitt Reignites Her Career

Jennifer Love Hewitt will star in and produce a new Lifetime television series, the network announced Wednesday. “The Client List” will be a show based on the 2010 movie of the same title. Hewitt will executive-produce through her Fedora Films production company, according to Reuters.

Lifetime also announced that it has entered into a first-look development deal for both series and movies with Fedora Films.

The series has been given the go-ahead for 10 hour-long episodes, which chronicles the exploits of a housewife in Texas, played by Hewitt.

“The Client List” character, Sam Horton, obtains a job at a day spa after being deserted by her husband, only to realize that the spa offers illicit services to important members of society. In order to keep her home and her children, Sam turns to prostitution, and “working with a rowdy, sexy, and unpredictable group of women,” according to Lifetime.

Lifetime Network President and GM Nancy Dubuc said, “Beloved by viewers, Jennifer Love Hewitt is an amazing talent on and off the screen and we are very excited about continuing our relationship with her on The Client List.”

Her statement also included that the movie project “falls in line with our strategy to expand Lifetime’s slate with unapologetic programming that will surprise audiences.”

Hewitt received a Golden Globes nomination for her performance, which averaged 3.9 million viewers in July 2010.

Members of the staff at Fedora Films Michael Jaffe, Dannielle Thomas, AJ Rinella, Howard Braunstein, and Jordan Budde will serve as executive producers of the series along with Hewitt.

“I am thrilled to be working with the fantastic team at Lifetime again,” Hewitt said in a statement. “Jordan Budde has written a show that truly reflects the spirit of the movie and I am looking forward to an amazing partnership with Lifetime as both a producer and actress.”

The decision to make the film into a television series came easily to Hewitt, who continued, “After hearing Lifetime’s vision for the new direction of the network, as well as the amazing level of talent they are working with, I knew that I wanted to partner with them in making quality television.”

The episodes are scheduled to begin airing on Lifetime in 2012.
