Jenny McCarthy Out at 'The View'? Elisabeth Hasselbeck Returning?
Is Jenny McCarthy already out at "The View"? Reports state that the newest host may be let go and Elisabeth Hasselbeck brought in as her replacement due to low reception for McCarthy.
"ABC has begun doing deep research on Jenny's work on the show and the initial findings are that viewers want to tune out the second she opens her mouth!" an insider told Radar Online. "The data has revealed that she is FAR more off-putting than Elisabeth."
Hasselbeck left "The View" for Fox News' "Fox and Friends," where she has enjoyed a boost in ratings and apparently feels at home.
"Elisabeth's warm and engaging personality made her a star on 'The View.' She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise," Fox News chief Roger Ailes said in an official statement.
McCarthy has become somewhat of a controversial figure, especially given her views on vaccinations. She famously blamed her son's autism to vaccinations he received as a child, setting off a frenzy of debate that continues today.
"Jenny has used her celebrity status to publicize medical claims that have not been proven by the literature," Dr. Shilpi Agarwal told Fox 411. "While it is understandable that she has her own views on immunizations given her child, she is going to be in front of impressionable young mothers and influencing their decision on immunizations and child care."
"Right now they're just trying to adjust Jenny's performance on the show so that she comes off as more appealing, but that's an uphill battle," the show insider revealed.
And so far Barbara Walters has not commented on McCarty's performance or asked for her to be replaced, which is a good sign. Walters is the heavyweight on the show and has considerable power and influence over who stays and who goes.
"Jenny needs to turn it around or she will be gone… if Barbara wants her out, they will buy out her contract," the source added.
