Jeremy Clarkson will return to host 'Have I Got News For You' this October

Jeremy Clarkson, former host of "Top Gear," will return to hosting with a special episode of the satirical news quiz "Have I Got News For You" next month.

He will join the team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop, once the show returns for a new series on Oct. 2. Clarkson signed up to host the quiz show last Sept. 18.

Appearing on Have I Got News For You will be Clarkson's first return on the BBC since he left Top Gear. According to a statement from Jimmy Mulville, the managing director of Hat Trick Productions, they are expecting Clarkson to host the show later this year, which turns out to be this October.

The TV presenter originally pulled out of hosting the news quiz show last April, after being fired from his former job at Top Gear. According to reports, Clarkson attacked Oisin Tymon, Top Gear's producer in a hotel at North Yorkshire. The result of an internal investigation discovered that Tymon brought himself to a hospital after he was assaulted by Clarkson. The producer said he was subjected to an "unprovoked physical and verbal attack," by Clarkson, which caused his lips to swell and bleed, according to BBC's report.

The host got suspended last March, and BBC confirmed that they would not renew his contract. BBC director-general Tony Hall said that he has crossed the line at that time. "There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another," Hall added.

Meanwhile, Clarkson will also have another motor show on Amazon Prime, with his former Top Gear co-host James May and Richard Hammond. The new show is said to be titled "Gear Knob," and the pay will make Clarkson the highest-paid TV presenter in Britain.

According to BBC, Richard Osman and Daniel Radcliffe will be the two guests that will join Clarkson for the Have I Got News For You this upcoming season's premiere.
