Jeremy Lin Injury Update: Point Guard Says Recovery 'Starts Now' Following Successful Surgery; Team to Apply for Disabled Player Exception?
Brooklyn Nets' injured point guard, Jeremy Lin, recently had his knee surgery and positively sent out a message to his fans that his recovery will start immediately.
During the Nets' Oct. 18 game against the Indiana Pacers, Lin suffered a ruptured patella tendon on his right knee after a bad fall.
The player shared a photo of himself while in the hospital where fans can see his right knee heavily braced apparently after the surgery. In the picture, Lin was sporting a wide smile beside the Brooklyn Nets' head coach, Kenny Atkinson.

The point guard was apparently in a much better mood than when he left the court during the game against the Pacers, where he was seen limping to the locker room disappointed.
On the other hand, Atkinson told media that Lin was still able to encourage him despite the player's condition. The coach told the New York Post: "One of the first things Jeremy said to me was we're more equipped this year to handle this." Atkinson added: "It's great of him to remind me of that under tough circumstances."
Lin just came back from an injury that prevented him from playing in most of the games in the 2016-17 season. Unfortunately, his recent knee injury has once again prematurely ended his run for the 2017-18 installment as the Brooklyn Nets' management confirmed last week that Lin would not be able to return for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, a report from the Associated Press (via NBA.com) said Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks said they were trying to come up with ways to remedy their current situation. This means it is also possible that they might apply for a Disabled Player Exception. If approved by league officials, this will give the Nets some leeway to replace a player hit by a season-ending injury.
Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge recently confirmed that they will also be applying for the Disabled Player Exception since Gordon Hayward suffered the same fate and had a season-ending injury during his first-ever game with the Boston Celtics.
