Jeremy Lin Takes First Major Steps After Surgery After Knicks Beat Hawks

Jeremy Lin, 24-year-old New York Knicks guard who is coming off of a knee surgery, proudly tweeted about one of the first major advancements in his rehabilitation progress recently.

"Great team win in ATL. And I jogged slowly (but not as slow as Steve Novak) for the first time since surgery," Lin tweeted Sunday. "It's been a great day so far."

It seems Lin's recovery is on schedule, after the Asian-American Harvard graduate tweeted that he hoped to be jogging two weeks ago which could bring him back to the court six weeks after his April 2 knee surgery.

The guard underwent surgery in order to repair a small chronic tear in his left meniscus during his first starting season in the NBA. Alan Hahn, Madison Square Garden Network's Knicks studio analyst, recently spoke about Lin's progress.

"Jeremy Lin will officially hit the midpoint of his recovery period tomorrow and today, as he announced on Twitter, he jogged for the first time since the April 2 surgery for the meniscus tear," Hahn tweeted after the Knicks 113-112 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. "That puts him right on schedule, not ahead of it."

The Knicks have gone 10-5 in Lin's absence. However, Knicks fans cannot celebrate the speedy return of the guard until he begins to cut laterally and jump, according to ESPN.

Lin has been thankful throughout his recovery process, relying on his faith to get through the ordeal. After his surgery, the Christian athlete thanked God for his road to a successful recovery.

"Praise God for a successful surgery...road to recovery," Lin tweeted after his operation. "Lets go. Much love to the fans for your support and kind words."
