Jerry Lee Lewis Weds Wife No. 7, Ex-Wife of His Cousin

'This Was Like the First Time for Both of Us,' Says Wife

Jerry Lee Lewis wed his seventh wife Judith March 9. The two already had a close relationship, as she is the 76-year-old's caregiver and she was formerly the wife of his cousin, Rusty, according to reports.

Jerry Lee Lewis' wedding to Judith Ann Coghlan Brown took place earlier this month in Natchez, Miss., Maureen O'Connor, Lewis' representative, told CNN. The "Great Balls of Fire" singer's recent marriage is further complicated by the fact that Lewis was once married to Myra Gale Brown, Rusty's sister.

Despite the unusual path to their nuptials and subsequent marriage, Judith Brown couldn't be happier.

"Once we sat down in front of the preacher, everything just felt right," she told The Natchez Democrat. "Neither of us feels like we've been married before, so this was like the first time for both of us."

Lewis has married under stranger circumstances in throughout his Hall of Fame rock n' roll career, though. He first married Dorothy Barton at the age of 14.

"I was 14 when I first got married," Lewis told People magazine in 1978. "My wife was too old for me; she was 17." He and Barton's marriage only lasted 20 months, leading to a string of marriages throughout the Hall of Famer's career.

After a 4-year marriage to Jane Mitchum, he married Myra Gale Brown, and that marriage lasted 13 years. Nearly lasting as long was Lewis' fourth marriage to Jaren Elizabeth Gunn Pate, which lasted 12 years; unfortunately, she drowned in their home swimming pool.

After that, Lewis married Shawn Stephens, who died three months later from a methadone overdose, according to reports. His sixth marriage was to Kerrie McCarver, which ended in divorce in 2004 after 20 years of being together.

The rock n' roll singer has had four children, two of which are still alive: Jerry Lee Lewis III and Phoebe Allan Lewis.
