Jerry Sandusky Released From Jail On $250,000 Bail
Former Penn State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky has managed to post bail to secure his release from jail Thursday.
Sandusky spent the night in jail last night after he was arrested Wednesday following the emergence of two additional claims of child sex abuse. Sandusky’s bail was set to $250,000 in cash, an amount that Sandusky failed to meet when he was arrested.
Sandusky was released as the court determined that he could use $200,000 in real estate holdings towards his bail. Sandusky's wife provided the additional $50,000 in bail with a certified check.

Prosecutors sought a bail set at $1 million for the former coach.
Sandusky’s lawyer, Joe Amendola, said yesterday that he planned on having Sandusky released today and argues that despite being cooperative, he was not informed by the Attorney General regarding the impending arrest of his client.
“This is going to be all over the country again. We’re talking about a fair trial, and you’re going to see Jerry Sandusky in handcuffs on new charges?” Amendola told 6News.
The two new accusers claim that they met Sandusky through his former charity The Second Mile. One of the new accusers told the grand jury he was repeatedly assaulted in Sandusky’s basement bedroom.
A grand jury statement released Wednesday said that, at least on one of the occasions, one of the victims screamed for help hoping that Sandusky’s wife would hear him “but no one ever came to help him.”
The victim also told the grand jury that Sandusky tried anal sex on him on at least 16 separate occasions.
Sandusky, 67, was charged with four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts of unlawful contact with a minor. He will face a preliminary hearing on Dec. 13.
At least one of his accusers will be present as a witness for the court hearing.
With the new emerging details regarding the allegations of child sex abuse, Sandusky continues to maintain his innocence.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Sandusky told the paper that children from The Second Mile charity probably viewed him as a “father figure.”
He also admitted to being sexually attracted to young people.
“If I say, ‘No I’m not attracted to young boys,’ that’s not the truth, because I’m attracted to young people – boys, girls.”
Sandusky attempted to explain his comment suggesting that he “enjoys” spending time with young people and that his favorite groups of people are the “elderly and the young.”
