Jessica Lange, Emmy for Supporting Actress in 'American Horror Story' (VIDEO)
During the 64th Annual Emmy Awards ceremony, Minnesota-born Jessica Lange took home the award for best supporting actress in a mini series.
Jessica Lange earned her second Emmy on Sunday night for her supporting role in "American Horror Story." Created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the mini-series is a drama-horror based thriller about a family that moves into a haunted home after facing life troubles. Lange plays the role of Constance, a part she was drawn to due to the short commitment span.
"That was huge for me!" she said in an August interview with Entertainment Weekly. "I wasn't about to commit to, you know, six months. It was cable, rather than network. … I've been offered network [shows] before, and determined not to do it, just because I can't make that kind of time commitment."
Lange's short commitment paid off on Sunday when she earned her second Emmy award. Lange scored her first Emmy as lead actress in "Gray Gardens," which was also a mini series.
"Oh thank you very much, thank you to the academy. This is really lovely," Lange stated after receiving her award. "Its been such a wild ride. A year ago I got a call out of the blue from Ryan Murphy, who I'd never met, who made me I have to admit, more promises than any man ever before. And they all came to pass."
Lange wore a red sash gown with one thick strap spreading over her second shoulder. Her dress choice appeared safe but sophisticated. She paired the look with gold hoop earrings and a gold cuff bracelet. Much praise has been offered to Lange since her first appearance on "American Horror Story."
