Jesus 'Look-Alike' Kicked Out of Sports Event After 4,000 Chant 'Stand Up If You Love Jesus' (PHOTO, VIDEO)
A so-called "Jesus look-alike" has been kicked out of a darts tournament after thousands of uncontrollable fans would not stop chanting for him, putting off top players at the event.
Nathan Grindal, from Oxford, was at the event to watch some of the world's best darts players compete, but ended up being escorted to a separate part of the venue by security staff when more than 4,000 fans noticed his appearance and started chanting, "Stand up if you love Jesus."
Officials were unable to control the crowd as more and more of the fans at the venue joined in the chant for an extended period, putting the world's top darts player, Phil "The Power" Taylor, and his opponent, Kim Huybrechts, off their game.
Unable to think of any other way to control the crowd, officials called security guards at the venue, who escorted the so-called "Jesus look-alike" out.
The 33 year old laborer was eventually escorted out by six guards to another part of the venue away from the games, where he was made to watch the competition unfold on a TV screen.
People at the venue found the situation hilarious, but Grindal was not impressed at all, saying, "It was distressing. I was emotionally distraught. The crowd were bullying me and picking on me. It would have been OK if security hadn't made a fuss getting me out," according to the UK's Mirror newspaper.
He added, "In his post-match interview, Phil Taylor said something like, 'If I ever see Jesus again, I'll crucify him myself'. Now that's just hurtful."
The organizers attempted to justify their decision to evict the long-haired and bearded Grindal, with Professional Darts Corporation spokesman Dave Allen saying: "There was a lot of chanting of Jesus and to avoid it distracting the players Nathan was taken to another part of the complex."
The incident took place at Minehead's Butlins – a family resort for holidaymakers. Grindal had traveled a long way from Oxford with his friends just to attend the event, the Cash Converters Players' Championship final, live in Somerset.
According to The Mirror, the runner up in the tournament, Kim Huybrechts signed a program for Grindal: "To Jesus. Hard luck mate."
