'Jesus' Shows Up at Kanye West's New 'Yeezus' Concert Tour
Kanye West has raised eyebrows once again after a Jesus lookalike joined him on stage at the inaugural show of his multi-city "Yeezus" tour. The two-hour concert, which took over an hour to set up, was full of religious overtones. In addition to "Jesus'" entrance, a demon and twelve (female) "disciples" performed alongside the rapper.
Just hours after the show concluded, West sent fans talking again when he canceled the tour until October 31, citing "unforseen circumstances."
West has never been shy about pushing the envelope artistically. While promoting his latest album, "Yeezus," he posed with a crown of thorns on his forehead on the cover of Rolling Stone. He also named one of the tracks off the album "I am God."
"I made that song because I am a god. I don't think there's much more explanation," West told W Magazine in July. "I'm not going to sit here and defend (expletive). That (expletive) is rock 'n' roll, man. That (expletive) is rap music. I am a god. Now what?"
West also declared that his new album's title cover alluded to his own divinity.
"I wanna explain something about the title Yeezus, simply put West was my slave name and Yeezus is my god name," West said at his recent New York City listening party, according to MissInfo.tv.
