Jillian Michaels 'Breaks Rules' During 'Biggest Loser,' But Was She Set Up?
Celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels reportedly "broke the rules" while filming "The Biggest Loser," and it cost her a player on the show. However, there is a rumor that Michaels was unjustly penalized in order to boost ratings and bring back a popular eliminated contestant.
Host Alison Sweeney called out Michaels during this week's elimination, stating that she had broken the rules by giving caffeine supplements to her contestants before their workouts without a doctor's permission. Michaels was penalized, and the last weigh-in was invalidated, meaning that eliminated player Ruben Studdard would return to the Biggest Loser ranch.
"I stand by my opinion," Michaels said defiantly. "A caffeine supplement is significantly healthier than unlimited amounts of coffee."
Even with a four-pound penalty, Michaels' team did not lose enough weight to stay safe and keep all four members at the ranch. Contestant Craig was sent home as a result of his percentage of weight loss. It was devastating for the white team, which has seen members leave before.
While Michaels stands by her decision to give her players supplements, fans wonder if she was set up by "Biggest Loser" producers to bring fan-favorite Ruben back to the show and boost ratings.
"She was used by the show for a reason to bring a famous contestant back," tweeted Carey Gardner.
"You're spot on," Michaels replied.
Whether or not that rumor is true, fans are thrilled that Ruben is back. The former "American Idol" winner brought a big boost to the show's ratings and quickly became a fan-favorite. He is thrilled to be back and have the opportunity to take home a new title, that of the Biggest Loser.
"This weigh-in started with some interesting information," Ruben blogged. "I'm getting to come back on the ranch and continue my journey! America: Watch! I'm back and ready to keep pushing to reach my goal."
"The Biggest Loser" airs Tuesday nights on NBC.
