Jilted Bride Donates Wedding Hall to Charity; Halloween Party Now Planned

A jilted bride in Fargo, North Dakota made the dreams of several people come true. Michelle Marxen decided to donate the hall where her reception would have taken place, and all the money from the wedding to Creative Care for Reaching Independence, a non-profit organization that helps those with disabilities.

"He didn't want to marry me, Marxen told My Fox Phoenix. "He said he didn't love me anymore. This would have been the venue at the Ramada. It was my fairytale wedding… when I was younger, you just dream of your wedding day. We spent a whole year planning this wedding and it just all ended in a phone call."

Marxen made the decision to use the hall and the money for a better cause and contacted the CCRI. The organization has planned a very special Halloween party for clients and will certainly have a night to remember.

"What was supposed to be my special day will now be their special day," Marxen told WDay 6 News.

"I was speechless… Actually the next day I called her to make sure it was for real," CCRI's Judy Hudson said.

Those learning of Marxen's donation are touched and impressed at how she is making lemons out of lemonade.

"She is too good for him! God bless her heart! She will find someone that is true to her heart and worthy of her wonderfulness!" Susan Bush Fluckiger posted on My Phoenix.com.

"Michelle Marxen, you're a wonderful and beautiful woman, Don't forget that! God bless you for your selfless actions," tweeted Matt E. Derdivanis.

Marxen's story is similar to that of a couple who donated their jilted daughter's wedding reception dinner, and hall, to the homeless in Georgia. The four-course dinner fed over 200 guests, some of whom had never experienced such luxury.

"Events are canceled, and sometimes for unknown reasons," Carol Fowler told "Here and Now." "Do not allow that opportunity to go to waste. Call up your favorite charity. Give them an opportunity to use that for people that will not have an opportunity, perhaps in life."
