Jim Carrey's Emma Stone Video a Joke or Creepy?
Jim Carrey has dedicated a video love letter to actress Emma Stone, star of “The Help,” that has everyone asking – was this a joke?
The 49-year-old comic posted the video on his Tru Life video website Wednesday – in which he made professions of love, telling 23-year-old Stone that he wanted to marry her.
Carrey said, “Emma, I just wanted to let you know that I think you’re all the way beautiful. Not just pretty, but smart and kind-hearted. And if I were a lot younger, I would marry you. And we would have chubby little freckle-faced kids. We would laugh all day long and go camping, play Yahtzee, tell ghost stories by the fire…”
The message goes on to tell Stone that she would “thank God” everyday that Carrey was the “appropriate” age. He added, “But I’m not. I’m 49. I have lines on my face, sometimes a little gray and it takes me longer to pee than it used to.”
Carrey went on to wish Stone success, but most of all “love and contentment.”
Since the “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” star posted the video Twitter has been buzzing with questions regarding the seriousness behind it.
@profgalloway wrote, “Jim Carey video to Emma Stone: Creepy love missive or prank? Thoughts?”
“Is Jim being his goofy self or just weird? You decide…” @AngTsarouch tweeted.
Hundreds of other Twitter users asked the same question – “funny or creepy?”
Emma couldn’t decide either. She wrote on her YouTube channel EmmaStoneVerified:
“I was a huge Jim Carrey fan. Now I’m not sure if I should be flattered, or seen an order for protection? ;) lol”
Carrey confirmed on Twitter that the video was in fact a joke.
“Yes, my msg to Emma Stone was a comedy routine and the funniest part is that everything i said is tru.”
He later tweeted, “People often ask me if I’m being funny or serious. The answer is “YES.” ?;^]”
