Jim Harbaugh on 'Judge Judy,' Spends Time With Role Model (VIDEO)
San Francisco 49er head coach Jim Harbaugh finally got the opportunity to meet TV's "Judge Judy," who he once said was his role model. Harbaugh and his father attended a taping of the show, per Judy's invitation, and were prominently featured during cutaways.
"I'm a big fan of the 'Judge Judy' show. And when you lie in Judge Judy's courtroom, it's over, your credibility is completely lost; you stand no chance of winning that case. So, I learned that from her. It's very powerful, and it's true," Harbaugh told the press back in February.
According to reports, Harbaugh was able to spend one-on-one time with Judge Judy; the two played cards backstage while waiting for the next case. Judy apparently won a hand of gin against the coach, but that didn't stop him from reveling in the encounter.
"I could sit there and watch those cases all day," Harbaugh tweeted during the day.
"Harbaugh said he's going to invite Judge Judy to 49ers practice," Taylor Price later tweeted.
"Judge Judy" is one of the highest-ranked courtroom TV shows, and Judy Sheindlin reportedly makes $45 million annually for the series. Her show, which began in 1996, was recently renewed until 2015. At 70 years old, Sheindlin shows no sign of slowing down or leaving the series that made her a household name.
"I'm not tired. I still feel engaged by what I do," she told The New York Daily News, "and I still have people who like to watch it."
While many find her abrasive and somewhat abusive, Sheindlin makes no apologies for her style of judging and speaking what she believes to be the truth.
"I think part of the reason I was selected to do this job was because I don't filter myself very well. But I was never a great filter of myself even when I sat on the bench in New York. If you annoy me, or if you lie to me, or if I feel as if you're trying to obfuscate the truth, you're going to get on my bad side. And that's a side that you don't want to be on," Sheindlin told "Entertainment Tonight" earlier this year.
