Jim Parsons, 'Big Bang Theory' Actor, is Gay and 'In A 10-Year Relationship'
Jim Parsons, the actor who plays the emotionally unaware Sheldon on hit TV series "The Big Bang Theory," has come out as gay in a new interview.
Jim Parsons' coming out was recorded in a piece in The New York Times in which the main focus was his role in theater. While the piece written by Patrick Healy did mention the actor's homosexuality, the offhand way in which it was mentioned- as an afterthought, rather than as the focus- belied the seriousness of the charge.
"'The Normal Heart' (a play Parsons had a small role in) resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment, he said," wrote Healy.

Besides that paragraph in an otherwise lengthy article, Parsons' sexuality is not mentioned again.
While Parsons didn't say it himself, his allowance of the fact into the article is certainly an admission. "The Big Bang Theory" actor joins others involved in the controversial lifestyle, and even though his disclosure was more of an addendum, it was still more direct than other celebrities have been.
Parsons "has lived as a gay man in his private life, but in his professional public life he skirted the issue," according to Out.com.
Another Hollywood celebrity to associate themselves with homosexuality has been Queen Latifah, who- although known for being in romantic comedies opposite men- has been widely rumored as a lesbian.
The rapper and actress performed at a Gay Pride festival in Long Beach May 19, and referred to the crowd as "[my] people."
"Are you all feeling the unity?" asked Latifah. "I've been waiting to do this for a long time."
Though there was no actual admission Queen Latifah's lesbianism, Pat Crosby, co-president of Long Beach Pride, took it as such.
"From hip-hop to R&B, pop to standards, Queen Latifah is the voice of our generation, and her concert here will be phenomenal, for her to make her worldwide Pride debut here in Long Beach is a tremendous testament to the popularity of our celebration," Crosby told The Advocate.
Despite their deviant lifestyle choices, Parsons' and Latifah's successes could outweigh their recent announcements- both have many fans in their respective genres.
