Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka Under Investigation for Mistress' Death

World Wrestling Entertainment star Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka has been named a person of interest in the mysterious 1983 death of his mistress, Nancy Argentino, who died of traumatic brain injuries after Snuka found her unresponsive in their hotel room.

The case has gone unsolved for more than 30 years, and a grand jury is currently being convened to re-examine the evidence and hopefully bring closure to Argentino's family. Police suspected that Argentino was brutally murdered based upon evidence from the corner who wrote at the time of her death: "Upon viewing the body and speaking to the pathologist, I immediately suspected foul play and so notified the district attorney."

Charges were never brought against anyone in the case, but Snuka was the one to find her body in their hotel room. Argentino was reportedly still alive, according to the Morning Call, and gasping for breath. She also had yellow fluid oozing from her mouth and nose. Snuka called for help, but Argentino died early the next morning.

Dr. Isidore Mikhalakis, a forensic pathologist, examined the body and determined that "the case should be investigated as a homicide until proven otherwise." He noted that Argentino's body had more than two dozen various cuts and bruises, possibly as a result of domestic violence.

According to one report, Snuka told five people, including officers, that he pushed the 23-year-old woman to the ground. She fell and hit her head during a stop along the side of the road before they returned to their hotel. Yet autopsy results showed no evidence that corroborated Snuka's version of events.

"I feel like the police didn't take it as far as they should have," Argentino's older sister, Nancy, told the Morning Call. "The whole thing, for our family, is still up in the air. We still walk around wonder, 'What the hell?'"

The Argentino family filed, and won, a $500,000 wrongful death lawsuit against Snuka. The wrestler claimed he was broke and could not afford a legal defense and never paid the family a dime. He remains quiet about his relationship with Argentino and what happened that fateful night.
