Jane Lynch, Cory Monteith: Co-Star Address Actor's Death, Says Everyone Handling it Their Own Way
During the Angel Awards in Hollywood on Saturday, Aug. 10, Cory Monteith's co-star Jane Lynch, talked how she and the rest of the "Glee" cast were doing in the wake of the actor's sudden death.
"We had a nice memorial," she told Us Weekly. "The cast and the crew, we all got together and we remembered Cory and honored [him]. We went back to the work and the wheels turn in spite of what happened and I'm just glad we had that memorial so we were able to come together and be a family."
With the third episode of the upcoming fifth season being planned to address Monteith's character, Finn Hudson's drug-related death, Lynch, 53, said that the 31-year-old is sorely missed.
"Everybody's doing differently," she added. "You know, it's tough. Everybody had a relationship with him and we all express our grief in different ways so I'll only speak for myself.
News of the untimely death came soon after the body of her 31-year-old Glee co-star and long-term boyfriend was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver, Canada on July 13.
The news has shocked the entertainment industry with friends of the late star expressing their deepest sympathies. A representative for Monteith's co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele released a statement at the time asking for privacy.
"We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time," the statement read.
"Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy recently revealed that the show will resume shooting in a few weeks, a decision that was based on the collective wishes of all involved in producing the show, with Murphy insisting that the cast and crew reuniting is the best way to come to terms with the tragic death of Cory Monteith.
"We will begin shooting in late August the two shows we had already written, so that people can physically go back to work," Murphy told Deadspin.com.
