John Cena, Nintendo Switch News: WWE Star Amazed With Upcoming Console
World Wrestling Entertainment superstar John Cena could not hide his excitement after being able to try out the upcoming portable console called the Nintendo Switch.
Talking to Sports Illustrated, Cena shared that he grew up with the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Cena told the sports news outlet, "That eight-bit graphical interface has truly stood the test of time, and now you see so many vintage designs and content available in eight-bit."
The WWE star also mentioned several Nintendo original games that he grew up with such as "Donkey Kong," "Super Mario Bros.," "Ice Climber," "Urban Champion," and "Gyromite." However, the "Super Techmo Bowl" is Cena's favorite game.
Another sports simulation video game Cena loved was "Baseball Stars." Other than those titles, he also shared he had the passion to play original eight-bit titles such as "Contra," "Metal Gears" and "Kung Fu."
This time, Cena showed he had not lost the passion for anything Nintendo. Last Feb. 23, Cena was commissioned by the Japanese video game company to try out the Switch console in Santa Clarita, California.
"I'm floored by the technology of the Switch, and the versatility of the console is second to none," Cena commented, according to Sports Illustrated.
He added, "It really is a home console that you can take anywhere. I've seen situations where home consoles can be transported, and it's like a big over-the-shoulder carry-on bag, but the versatility of this thing is groundbreaking."
Cena tried out the Nintendo Switch at the Blue Cloud Movie Ranch last Feb. 23 inside a makeshift "interactive living room" that was set up by Nintendo where he and other invited people sampled the console.
People can also try out the Nintendo Switch during its launch day on March 3 at the Flatiron Plaza in New York between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. The event is open to the public.
