John McAfee Captured? Rumors Persist Despite Reports

John McAfee has allegedly been captured, but those reports have proven false. The elusive person of interest has said he will never turn himself in to police because of poor conditions he has been in.

"I do not know where he is supposed to have been captured, but he certainly isn't here at San Pedro police station," an officer told The Guardian. McAfee was allegedly picked up near the Mexican border on Friday. Belize police later denied the report and said that they had no knowledge of his whereabouts.

McAfee himself took to his blog to tell followers that he was safe and free. His "double, carrying on a North Korean passport under my name, was in fact detained in Mexico for pre-planned misbehavior," he wrote.

McAfee has become a bit of a celebrity for his use of technology to evade police who want to speak with him about the murder of his neighbor. He has used a blog to describe his feelings while on the run and the techniques he has used to remain at large.

"It hasn't been a lot of fun," he told a CNN reporter during an interview. "I miss my prior life. Much of it has been deprivation. No baths, poor food," he added. McAfee believes that the Belize government actually wants to kill him and is using the murder as a disguise to lure him in to their trap.

McAfee is believed to have killed his neighbor over a dispute about the neighbor's dogs. On Nov. 9, he called police to report that someone had poisoned four of his dogs and in a humanitarian effort; he had shot them in the head and buried them. The dogs' behavior, CNN reported, "was a frequent source of friction" between McAfee and his neighbor, the late Gregory Faull.

Two days later, Faull was shot in the head and police were immediately suspicious of McAfee and requested to speak to him. That's when he went on the run and began the bizarre game of cat-and-mouse.

"I will certainly not turn myself in, and I will certainly not quit fighting," he told CNN. "I will not stop my blog."
