'John Wick: Chapter 2' Preview, News: Bodies Pile Up as John Wick Returns
It's time to watch the body count pile up again because "John Wick: Chapter 2" is about to hit the theaters. John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is back, and this time everyone should stay clear of his dog if they want to live.
So what can "John Wick" fans expect from the sequel? The murder of his dog in the first film spurred Wick to go on a rampage, but this time, somebody decided that it was a good idea to blow up his house. That's never a good idea. Get ready for another bloodbath.
Meanwhile, the reviews are out. Entertainment Weekly's Chris Nashawaty just gave the film a positive review and he said that he "lost track of the body count within the first 15 minutes." That sounds like the type of sequel fans were expecting. The movie should be action-packed from start to finish.
Most critics gave the film a thumbs up, and some singled out a particular comedic sequence involving Wick and Cassian (Common) as one of the highlights of the film.
"The filmmakers know when to lace in genre-tweaking humor, too, as when Reeves and Common are on different levels of a crowded public concourse, nonchalantly poking guns out of their coats and squeezing off shots at each other that nobody else notices," The Wrap's Robert Abele said in his review.
Empire's Chris Hewitt also talked about this scene on his review. "You'll laugh at a sequence where Wick and one rival take sly silenced potshots at each other in a crowded public area, like kids playing cops and robbers with their fingers," he stated.
And here's a little spoiler that will not give away too much of the plot — the dog doesn't die this time, so animal lovers can go ahead and watch it without cringing. "John Wick: Chapter 2" is scheduled to premiere on Feb. 10.
