Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper Take Stage
Johnny Depp joined Alice Cooper on stage in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The 49-year-old actor took the stage alongside the rock music legend with his guitar in hand for several songs at the Orpheum Theatre.
"Johnny was in great spirits," one onlooker said, according to People.com. "He was really happy and at ease, especially on stage with the rest of the band."
Depp and Cooper played The Doors' "Break On Through (To The Other Side" and The Beatles' "Revolution," to name a few, People reported.
A long-time friend of Depp's, Cooper made a cameo appearance in the actor's film "Dark Shadows" earlier this year. The 64-year-old rock star is best known for his hit songs "I'm Eighteen" and "School's Out," among many others.
Thursday was not the first time Depp has demonstrated his guitar skills on stage.
Over the summer, the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" star attended the 2012 MTV Movie Awards where he took the stage alongside The Black Keys. He later earned the MTV Generation Award.
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry described Depp as a "gutsy actor, gutsy musician, and gutsy artist with passion" before they presented the actor with the award.
"Johnny Depp is the rock star in the world of movies," added Tyler during the event.
Depp remains busy with his career in Hollywood, and recently landed a new role in the film "Transcendence." Well known for portraying a variety of different characters including Jack Sparrow from "Pirates of the Caribbean," Depp will portray Alcon in the upcoming sci-fi thriller.
"I am thrilled and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Johnny," said "Transcendence" director Wally Pfister. "He is creative and intelligent artist whom I feel will bring great depth to the character and the overall narrative."
The film will be the directorial debut for Pfister, who served as cinematographer for "Inception."
Moreover, Depp will appear in next year's "Lone Ranger" as Tonto.
Meanwhile, Depp recently ended his 14-year relationship with actress Vanessa Paradis, with whom he shares two children. The actor is rumored to be dating his "Rum Diaries" co-star Amber Heard, and often makes headlines as the media speculates his love life.
