Johnny Depp in Dark Shadows Trailer (VIDEO)

The official trailer for "Dark Shadows," starring Johnny Depp, has hit the Internet and has revealed a new look for the actor.

Depp portrays Barnabas Collins in the new film directed by Tim Burton. This is the eighth time the actor and director have collaborated on a film. Depp has previously appeared in Burton's films such as "Edward Scissorhands" and "Ed Wood."

The teaser sees the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star with pale white skin and red lips. Depp's character Collins was once an average man during the 1700's but falls under the curse of a heartbroken witch, Angelique, who transforms him into a vampire and buries him alive.

In the next scene of the trailer, Collins' descendants dig him up and he realizes the year is 1972. The comedy follows the vampire as he adapts to the '70's era and fights to save his family from the evil sorceress who cursed him.

Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pffeifer, Chlore Mortez, and Eva Green also star in "Dark Shadows."

Burton's film is based on the cult gothic comedy of the same name from the 1960's.

"Dark Shadows" actress Bonham Carter and Burton have been in a relationship for over 10 years. The actress often appears in his films along with Depp.

The film premieres May 11, and will be available in IMAX.

Lately, Depp has avoided the media spotlight after his reported break up from longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis. The 48-year-old shares two children with the French actress.
