Jon Stewart's Miley Cyrus Get-Up: Takes on Cyrus' Twerking Moves (VIDEO)
With a summer off to work on his upcoming film project, Jon Stewart seems to have forgotten who he is. Luckily on Tuesday night he was able to re-discover himself, but not without a few transitions that included his dressing up as Miley Cyrus.
"Daily Show" host Jon Stewart returned to his post on Tuesday night after taking a long summer to work on directing his first film- "Rosewater"- about a journalist who was brutally interrogated while covering the presidential elections in Iran. But when fill-in correspondent John Oliver went to meet with Stewart, it appeared the news host had lost himself a bit.
"The Middle East has changed him. He's not even acting American. Get him a defibrillator and two Big Macs!" John Oliver, the show's interim host, said during the episode to Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams.
From that point, Stewart undergoes a series of over the top changes beginning with coming out in a red plaid shirt and camo hat and ranting about Obamacare. Stewart also filled the roles of a Jewish prophet, a British scholar, a Smurf and the late Queen singer Freddie Mercury before he hit the "performance of the night."
In an attempt to remind viewers of Miley Cyrus' "historical" performance at MTV's Video Music Awards, Stewart then appeared wearing blonde pigtails and "twerking on stage." Complete with a foam finger and a risqué get-up, Stewart appeared to have mastered some of Cyrus' most prized moves. Stewart's own "history" making moment was disrupted however when the "fixer" –Stephen Colbert- stepped in and said it was time to "break this man."
With all of his shenanigans behind him, Stewart stepped into a more serious note saying: "OK, let's do this."
Miley Cyrus said Tuesday that she was not ashamed of her VMA performance that left her the talk of the town because the reaction to it was "all negativity" that has occurred before in "pop past."
later and people are still talking about it. They're overthinking it," she exclaims.
"You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me!" she told MTV.
