Joni Eareckson Tada, Franklin Graham Among Christian Leaders Named to ECFA Panel
The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) has announced its new board of reference, consisting of some of the nation's most influential Christian leaders who share the group's desire to see financial integrity in Christian ministries.
The purpose of the ECFA is to provide accreditation to Christian, non-profit groups and to help ministries “earn the public's trust” when it comes to finances. Those on the panel have been assembled in order to serve as “ambassadors” of the organization, helping to maintain its high standards, who will also lend an ear and offer advice when appropriate.
“These highly respected individuals bring a wealth of experience, influence and wisdom that will help us in our mission to serve ministries, churches and other evangelical nonprofits seeking to maintain the highest levels of integrity and accountability,” said Dan Busby, ECFA president, in a statement. “They will provide us with an incredible sounding board as they affirm ECFA's vision and values.”

Busby was recently voted to a list of 2011's “Top 50 Power & Influence” by The NonProfit Times magazine for his role in holding religious organizations financially accountable and for serving as the “financial sheriff for the evangelical community.”
The list of 15 appointees Busby has accumulated for his panel is equally impressive, featuring Christian leaders from a variety of different fields.
Some of the advisers on the list are top educational leaders, including:
Barry H. Corey, president of Biola University
Jack Hayford, president and founder of The King's University (previously The King's College and Seminary)
Paul Nyquist, president of Moody Bible Institute
Joseph M. Stowell, President of Cornerstone University
In addition to these a number of the members of the board are the leaders of widely renowned ministries. These include:
Chip Ingram, senior pastor of Venture Church and president of Living on the Edge ministries
Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
Mart De Haan, president of RBC Ministries
Stephen Douglass, president of Campus Crusade for Christ
Jack Eggar, president and CEO of Awana
Bruce Johnson, president of SIM USA
Robert Lonac, president and CEO of CRISTA Ministries
Dennis Rainey, president and CEO of FamilyLife
Wess Stafford, president of Compassion International
Joni Eareckson Tada, founder and CEO of Joni and Friends International Disability Center
Ravi Zacharias, founder and board chairman of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries
These members will receive periodic updates on the state of the ECFA and other important issues and will give the organization feedback as needed. The ECFA was founded in 1979.
