Instead of living in fear, New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday is putting all of his faith in Jesus as his pregnant wife, Lauren, battles a newly discovered brain tumor.

While Jrue, 26, admitted in an interview with NOLA.com that he was devastated to hear the news, he insisted that his wife's faith was strong enough to conquer the obstacle.

"There is nothing in life my wife can't conquer with Jesus Christ in her corner," he tweeted. "Thank you all so much for your support! God bless!"

Lauren, the 28-year-old Olympic soccer star who ended her career to start a family last year, also took to Twitter to thank people for their prayers.

"We are firm believers that people need people," she wrote. "So thank you for your thoughts and prayers as we navigate a difficult time."

While Lauren is expected to give birth in mid-October, the Holidays will schedule surgery to remove her tumor about six weeks after that. What started with excitement about their first child has now evolved into the couple also prioritizing Lauren's health.

"Obviously, we were and are still very excited about the birth of our first child, but our focus shifted from having this magnificent blessing to making sure everything is going to be OK with Lauren and the child," Jrue said. "Our priorities right now are being able to manage Lauren's symptoms and still have a fairly healthy pregnancy."

The Holidays learned about Lauren's condition after she started suffering from painful headaches. Now she's experiencing the loss of feeling on one side of her face where the tumor is affecting her nerves.

Jrue insists that his wife is remaining strong during the difficult process.

"Lauren has her good days and her bad days; some are better than others," Jrue said. "She's obviously a fighter, the toughest woman I know. That's the reason why I married her.

In order to take care of his family, Holiday took a leave of absence from the Pelicans. In the midst of supporting his family, Jrue is asking his fans for prayers.

"We just ask for your prayers, really pray for my family," he said. "We can take all the prayers that we can get."
