Juan Pablo Galavis, Soccer Player, Chosen as Next 'Bachelor'
During last night's live finale of "The Bachelorette," host Chris Harrison made an important announcement that left audiences thrilled. He revealed that Juan Pablo Galavis will be the new "Bachelor," and casting is still underway for the new season.
"It was hard to make the decision," the single father said after the announcement was made. "It's a great responsibility because I'm going to find, hopefully, the person who's going to be with me and my daughter."
Juan Pablo has a 4-year-old daughter, Camila, from a previous relationship, though he did not speak about her very much on the "Bachelorette." He was sent home during the sixth episode of the season, disappointing fans rooting for the Spanish soccer player.
"Being on 'The Bachelorette' opened up my eyes, and I'm definitely ready to fall in love," Juan Pablo told Harrison. "I really want to have that wife and a couple other kids."
During the "Men Tell All" special, Harrison noted that Juan Pablo had had quite an impact on the show, with several audience members wearing homemade "Juan Pablo" T-shirts.
"He's the fan favorite we barely got to know! In the history of this show, no guy has made a greater impact with less screen time than our soccer-playing single dad," Harrison said.
After Harrison's announcement sent the live audience into a frenzy, one woman yelled, "Dibs!" putting a huge smile on Juan Pablo's face.
"I don't think you're making it out of here tonight," Harrison joked.
"I'll try," Juan Pablo replied.
Fans are already anticipating the new season of "The Bachelor," which will air in January 2014. Twenty-five women will begin, but Juan Pablo will have the difficult task of sending women home every week until he narrows it down to the final two. Of course, plenty of women are volunteering for the show.
"AHHHH! Juan Pablo!!!! I wish I was on the next #bachelor," "Teen Mom 2" star Chelsea Houska tweeted.
"Time for a new bachelor. 'He's handsome… charismatic… funny… and everyone's talking about him.' Huzzah! It's Juan Pablo!" tweeted author Jennifer Weiner.
"The Bachelor" premieres in January on ABC.
