Julianne Hough and Ryan Seacrest Break Up: Dancer Reveals 'It Wasn't Right'

After the demise of her relationship with Ryan Seacrest, Julianne Hough is finally revealing what caused the breakup. The "Dancing With The Stars" alum said that a lot of the things about her relationship with Seacrest "wasn't right."

"Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right. I had one foot out because I didn't want to get hurt. And I didn't say what was on my mind because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect," she said in an interview with Redbook.

The "Footloose" star split from Seacrest in early 2013, citing hectic schedules, especially for the "American Idol" host. After the relationship ended, the actress took a vacation with her family and came to a realization.

"I had this epiphany when my family went to a six-day seminar [last November] about creating your own destiny. I learned so much about myself and why my relationships didn't work that by the end I was on a high. I was seeing a couple a people, but immediately [texted them], 'You are nice, but this is going nowhere,'" Hough said.

Soon after, her "Curve" co-star set her up with hockey player Brooks Laich and the two have been together since December 2013.

"It couldn't have been a better time. We've been open and honest from day one," she revealed. "I'm not holding back, because I'd rather get my heart broken than never know what it is to be completely, madly in love. If I had been this open in my last relationship, who knows?"
