'Jurassic World 2' News, Update: Colin Trevorrow Speaks About the Sequel's Inspiration
Colin Trevorrow, the brain behind the 2015 blockbuster hit, "Jurassic World," revealed that the next installment will be taking its inspiration from the original 1993 film, "Jurassic Park."
The helmer, who is co-writing and co-producing the follow-up film, said during his interview at the Jurassic Cast Podcast (via Entertainment Weekly) that "Jurassic World 2" will take off from the line spoken by Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) in the classic film that goes like this:
"Dinosaurs and man, separated by 65 million years of evolution, have been thrown back into the mix together. How can we know what to expect?"
The director further divulged during the podcast that they have in fact used an Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) quote for the recent Chris Pratt-starred action-adventure.
"It's, 'You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you knew what you had, you patented it, you packaged it, slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you want to sell it,'" Trevorrow said (via EW).
Trevorrow, who is also working with Derek Conolly in the scripts, seems to suggest that the sequel won't necessarily get to pick up from the events of the first film as it will have a "different kind" of feel. This is an initiative which he felt will take the franchise to the next level, he said.
However, he clarified that it won't mean bringing in more or "bigger and better" kinds of dinosaurs. It's all about using the film as a starting point to tell a "much larger story" on man's relationship with these prehistoric animals, their interaction with the environment, as well as the consequences of the desire to bring them back to life in the present times.
As for the specific details of the movie, including its plotline, cast members, and other aspects are still under wraps although the "Safety Not Guaranteed" director clarified that it won't be called "Jurassic World 2."
