'Just Because!' Episode 2 Spoilers: Romantic Conflict to Arise Anew Between Eita and Mio?

Eita Izumi is reuniting with friends he has neither seen nor communicated with in four years on the Japanese anime series. "Just Because!" And although it is already the third semester of their final year in high school, it seems that there will still be a lot of conflicts and resolutions waiting on the horizon.

It has been four years since Eita had to leave after his father was relocated to Fukuoka. And despite promising to communicate regularly with his close friend, Haruto Souma, the communication lines soon turned cold between them after only a month or so. But now that Eita is back in town and is going to the same high school as Haruto, the two have finally had the chance to reunite and rekindle their friendship thru an afternoon game of baseball.

But towards the end of the episode, it was also Haruto who seemed to have introduced a possible conflict in Eita's new life back in town. There is a girl from their middle school class who also happens to be going to that high school.

What relationship did Eita have with the former student council president, Mio Natsume and why did he look somewhat concerned after Haruto mentioned that she also went to that high school? Mio, herself, was also surprised to see Eita back and seemed rather interested in watching him pitch for Haruto on the school's baseball field.

There seem to be some unresolved issues between the two of them, but will the remaining months of their final year in high school be enough to make amends before the both of them become too busy with their lives?

Haruto also seems to be interested in the reserved school band member, Hazuki Morikawa, and has even made hitting a home run as a sign to finally ask her out. How will this potential romance pan out on the next episode titled, "Question"?

Most of the viewers were rather satisfied with how the series premiere turned out, although some were also bored by the lack of any potential conflicts. Others are hoping for more character developments in the coming episodes to give the story a little push into more interesting narrative directions.

"Just Because!" airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. JST on AT-X and at 11:30 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX. The series also airs on Friday late night at 2:55 JST on MBS. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site.
