Justice Ginsburg Returns to Court After Short Hospital Stint
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg made a quick return to work Friday after being hospitalized overnight.
Ginsburg, 76, was released from the Washington Hospital Center on Friday morning and was at her desk by early afternoon, the court reported.
The day before, Ginburg reportedly felt faint, light-headed, and fatigued roughly an hour after being infused with iron sucrose to treat an iron deficiency anemia.
The justice of 16 years, who was found this past July to have a low red blood cell count due to a deficiency of iron, was found to be in stable health following a medical examination at the court and improved after fluids were administered to her.
Slightly low blood pressure, as was found in Ginsburg, can occur following the treatment she had received, the court reported.
Despite having improved, Ginsburg was taken to the Washington Hospital Center around 7:45 p.m. Thursday as a precaution for evaluation.
Ginsburg, who was appointed by President Clinton, has been on the Supreme Court since 1993. She was the second woman in U.S. history to be appointed the court.
