'Justice League Movie' News: J.K. Simmons' Commissioner James Gordon Character Will Make the Movie More Believable

While it is true that J.K. Simmons' Commissioner James Gordon character in the upcoming DC and Warner Bros.' "Justice League: Part 1" movie may not be as powerful as the superheroes to be featured in the film, the inclusion of the character in the movie will make the story more credible.

Those who admire the character should not expect that he will have a full-movie exposure in the first installment of "Justice League." However, over time, Simmons will expand his role in DC's Extended Universe (DCEU) as he reprises the role in future films. This early, though, Simmons can't already hide excitement over what's in store for Commissioner James Gordon.

."I don't get started on that until June, and my part in the first one is very small. I'm excited to be playing that iconic character in that iconic series. I'm going into a thing that hopefully will be two, three, four, maybe more movies for me, and my part in the first one is really very small. But obviously, we know who the guy is. We know his whole backstory, based on the comic book. So, I'm just gonna finish doing my research on that...," Simmons said.

Although some actors choose to watch performances of those who earlier portrayed the role that they will breathe life into anew, Simmons disclosed that he chose not to. For him, getting an idea from the previous portrayals of the role would not only intimidate him but will be counterproductive as well.

The cameras already started grinding for "Justice League: Part 1" in a London studio earlier this month. The movie will feature the superhero characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Mera, with the first six characters getting reprised by Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher as seen earlier in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Actress Amber Heard will be introduced as Mera in the movie, Aquaman's wife and Queen of the Atlantis.

With the inclusion of Simmon's Commissioner Gordon character, things can only get even more exciting for the movie, even just for the premise based on the adage "the more, the merrier."

"Justice League: Part 1" hits the theaters in November 2017.
